Watch out, it's time for a QUIZ! [Mar. 10th, 2007|08:24 pm]

Snagged from [info]pippin_cheerio:

26. What kind of bubble gum do you prefer to chew? Don’t like it. =P

Regarding seasonal changes and depression [Mar. 10th, 2007|06:49 pm]
[Mood | depressed]

Le sigh. I feel depressed. Really down in the dumps.  =P

The most likely reason for said depression is probably because it's March. I hate March. Nothing special happens at all. Christmas is well over and Easter isn't for another month. The weather is horribly indecisive; one minute it's sweltering hot (especially when I'm in my stuffy office), the next it's pouring down with rain and all you want to do is snuggle up by the fire. Bleugh.

I don't want Winter to be over yet. Fuck Spring. In Winter I can really appreciate my bed more on the cold dark nights, but as the seasonal changes take place you can't decide whether you're hot or cold, you should turn the heating up or down, or if you should add on extra layers or strip right down, and sleepless nights are the result. And boy, you can take that from someone who's had a lot of  "tossing-and-turning" experiences. I'm tired right now.

I'm sure by April my downs will completely evaporate, especially with my week-off work and annual weekend-away taking place in that month, I'll produce more smiles than Tony Blair, except only less fake. But until then, I don't think I'll find any way to turn my frown upside down. Try and entertain me, guys...

Quiz time! [Mar. 2nd, 2007|08:09 pm]
[Mood | confused]

You Are the Very Gay Velma!

She might not even realize it...
But Velma is all about Daphne... not Fred!
What Gay Childhood Icon Are You?

What?? I always thought Velma was a little into Shaggy, to be honest...

*appears in a puff of rose-scented smoke* [Feb. 23rd, 2007|04:37 pm]
[Mood | good]

I haven't posted to my LJ in what seems like such a looooooong time. I suppose I should post more often to help stop people from thinking I've died. But I haven't. I'm still here. I've just been resting. And neglecting my f-list at the same time. I'm going to try and catch up this afternoon. Deal?

I'll take that as a yes.

Anyway, here's some random stuff about what's been going on in my life:

+ Valentine's Day wasn't anything interesting. Never is. To me it's just an excuse for the marketing world to successfully improve their sales by getting suckers to buy mushy pink stuff for their partners to show their love to each other. Just like people use St. Patrick's Day as an excuse to drink. But that's just my opinion; if you don't agree then just ignore me.  :)

+ My PCD (post-christmas depression) began to improve around the start of February, and now I'm feeling a lot better. Yes, it really does take that long for me. Unfortunately, it doesn't help that the movie channels still persist on showing Christmas movies even though almost two solid months have passed, making me feel sad again.

+ Britney Spears is only doing it all for attention. And you know it.

+ FWEE!! My copy of Godzilla vs. Mothra arrived in the mail last week! It seems like such a long time since I last saw it! Unfortunately, my order came from overseas on Amazon so had to fight tooth-and-nail to actually get inside the DVD case. Is that what what all DVDs are like in the U.S? That's why I try to keep my orders local as much as I can. Anyway, the movie was great.

+ Blood Tea and Red String was an amazing movie. It's now officially in my favourites.

I think that's it. I hope you all have a good weekend!  =)

I was bored, OKAY??? [Feb. 5th, 2007|05:06 pm]
[Mood | quite all right, thank you]

From [info]pippin_cheerio:

Supposedly if you've seen over 85 movies, you have no life. Mark the ones you've seen. There are 239 movies on this list. Copy this list and paste it in an entry. Then, put x's next to the movies you've seen, add them up, change the header adding your number. Then, bold the ones you liked and click post. Have fun!

Yeah yeah, I went way over. But at any rate, who cares? I think that just about everybody has seen over 85 movies, whether they're on this list or NOT. So maybe I don't have a life. And besides, you didn't even put Gremlins, Ghostbusters or The Shining on there! And where is Casablanca? Or Gone with the Wind? See my point now???

"Turner-ized" King Kong [Feb. 2nd, 2007|08:23 pm]
[Mood | ecstatic]

I finally joined the madness that is YouTube.

My first video? Take a look:

I couldn't resist. =)

The colorized version of the original King Kong is very rare and highly priced among collectors. Wikipedia is the only website where you'll find an actual screen capture from the movie, isn't that a big enough hint?! So sit back, relax and enjoy; as this is YouTube Gold (you'll find a lot of crap on that site too).

P.S. My aim upon joining the video-uploading site is to upload clips from movies previously unavailable. I am NOT uploading videos of myself, home movies, or anything of the like. Sorry to disappoint you.  ^^

Interview! [Jan. 16th, 2007|06:34 pm]
[Mood | thirsty]

Totally snaggled from [info]karinablack :

Interview instructions:

1) Leave me a comment saying, "Interview me."

2) I respond by asking you five questions of a very intimate and creepily personal nature. Or not so creepy/personal.

3) You WILL update your LJ with the answers to the questions.

4) You will include this explanation and an offer to interview someone else in the post.

5) When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them five questions.

1) What was the happiest moment you can recall?

When I left School.  =D

Actually, it was probably when I was a small child; about five or something. I was lying in my bed, typical School morning. Nothing special... until my parents burst into my room holding a small cat in their arms, yelling "SURPRISE!". I almost had a heart attack of happiness. My first pet. I spent the rest of the morning crawling around the floor tugging on her tail. Bless. I didn't quite understand back then, you see. Oh, happy memories!

2) What do you want to do with your artistic talent?

Get a job based around it some day, which I'm hoping is not an unrealistic target. Sucks to this boring office job.

3) Where's the SpiderGremlin Puff?

Urrrmm, here? If you're talking about me, of course. If you're talking about an actual spidergremlin, then I'm afraid it doesn't exist. Yet. Stay on your toes.

4) How much of HP do you feel is inspired by LOTR?

I can't really say how much. Although I certainly see where you're coming from--I've thought about it quite a bit whilst reading/watching HP and reading/watching LoTR. They're both great, anyway.

5) Stephen King, horror, comedy, or tragedy?

I'll go with horror. Because the majority of books I've read from him are horror. I especially like The Shining.  =D

w00t, hex masks are back!! [Jan. 15th, 2007|06:49 pm]
[Mood | <-- tee hee!]

I've changed my mood theme back to the way it was before. Why? Because I got bored of the other one. Because I'm like that. It's more exciting when you have a non-server supported moodtheme. Don't know why. I feel like such a rebel (if that's what the kids still say). Go me. ^.^

P.S. Go over to [info]potterpuff_fans. I've finally done some more 'puffs. That is all.

Possibly one of the most amusing Flash games ever! [Jan. 11th, 2007|06:48 pm]
[Mood | amused]

God, it is SO weird having a new userpic. I guess I've had Mandy for so many months that I've just gotten used to her, so looking at something different is strange. Really strange. 0_o

Anyways, if you're feeling stressed, mad, and generally pissed off then check out this Bush-style ragdoll physics game. Have fun watching him stumble down the bottomless pit, and don't forget to smack him against those random floating balls! Kept me amused for aaaages.  =)

What are you looking at me like that for? At least Bush is getting what he deserves...

Movies of 2k6! [Jan. 5th, 2007|04:37 pm]
[Mood | productive]
[Music |Red Hot Chili Peppers, "The Zephyr Song"]

Holy crap, 2k7 already???

Well, okay--I promised myself that I'd do this, so behind the cut you'll find some brief reviews (rated in cookies  instead of stars!) of films that I have seen over the past year. I'm sure I've left some out, but oh well...they can't have been that good if I've forgotten about them! ^.^

Well, that's it for now!

Overall, I think that 2006 was a pretty good movie year, but nothing compared to the successes of 2005, which include King Kong, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, Corpse Bride, and let's not forget Wallace and Gromit in the Curse of the Were-Rabbit! I'm looking forward to 2007 movie-wise, with the fifth installment of the Harry Potter series, Shrek 3 and of course The Simpsons Movie (God hope they don't blow it after 18 seasons of a very successful animated TV show!).

Well, until next time, bye-bye and have a good weekend!!

Spider Gremlin

.:Edit:. Oh my, I forgot Borat! (I saw an icon of him on my flist which was the thing that reminded me...) Well, I think that it's a hilarious movie and I give it the full five stars cookies. So, there ya go!

Ringing in the New Year... [Jan. 1st, 2007|06:57 pm]
[Mood | tired]
[Music |Green Day, "I Walk Alone"]

Yay, first post of 2k7!

Happy New Year! I hope everybody had a fun time, and a great Christmas too. 2006 has had its ups and downs, but overall, a fairly good year. Not as good as 2005, which (for me) was a great year. Christmas Day was fun, but the holiday season in general for me was a lot quieter this year, so I didn't enjoy it as much.

Now it's time to finish those last few Christmas chocolates (still a lot for me, though!), reflect on the year that has just passed, and finally; look to the future and hope that 2007 is all for the best.

Now to think of a New Year's resolution...

Link1 person hung|Walk the gallows

Just a note to say... [Dec. 23rd, 2006|05:15 pm]
[Mood | festive]
[Music |Mariah Carey, "All I Want For Christmas Is You"]

Merry Christmas, everyone. I hope you all enjoy the rest of the festive holiday, and I shall see you all in the New Year!

I'm sorry that I've been neglecting my f-list lately, but as it is Christmas, I hope you will all find room in your heart to forgive me. Please don't spend too much time wasting away in front of your computer; after all, this time only comes once a year! Go stuff yourself with chocolates! Pull Crackers! Hang paper chains! Watch Christmas movies! But above all, have fun.

TTFN!

Top Ten Movies... [Dec. 22nd, 2006|06:56 pm]
[Mood | dorky]
[Music |All Saints, "Rock Steady"]

A meme I'm filling out. Because I feel like it.

Tell me about your top ten favourite movies of all time, starting with no.1 first, all of which must include the year they came out. Give a brief description for each one, including a reason why you like it so much -- when you're done, tag five friends!

(1) Gremlins 2: The New Batch (1990) ~ Best movie EVAH!! Period. Why? Because it's unique, funny, and believe it or not (you won't here this very often from anyone) I like it more than the original, a rare thing to say about a sequel. The puppets are humorous and very well acted-out, and you'll love every single Mogwai and Gremlin that walks onto the screen. (Especially the spider gremlin!) Thank GOD they didn't use CGI, puppets rule!!

(2) King Kong (1933) ~ Oh, come on now... This classic movie should be on everybody's top ten. The stop-motion SFX is excellent, because let's face it; CGI is the lazy man's way out. Stay away from the Ted Turner-ed version, because this was some bad colorization.

(3) The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993) ~ Definitely Tim Burton's best film, with very very good stop-motion animation, always my no. 1 movie to watch at Halloween/Christmas. It's so gothic, it's so me. Who cares if it's a kid's movie -- it's just as good for an adult!

(4) A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984) ~ Because Freddy Krueger is awesome, and the plot of the movie is great -- an undead guy who kills children in their sleep? Wonderful! Simpsons Halloween special, eat your heart out.

(5) Tarantula! (1955) ~ I LOVE the old Sci-Fi thrillers. This one, in particular, just so happens to be my favourite. It Came from Outer Space and Them! were good, but compared to this movie, the SFX in both of the latter seem primitive. Yes; they used a real tarantula which was photographically enlarged for the monster scenes, but I don't care, it's still pretty convincing, even though it would probably have been even better if they had gotten Ray Harryhausen to do the animation. Oh well...

(6) The Shining (1980) ~ Heeeeeere's Johnny! A famous horror movie that I love, no reason needed. If you've seen it, I think you'll understand why.

(7) The Valley of Gwangi (1969) ~ A cowboy/dinosaur movie which features a huge amount of stop-motion SFX from Ray Harryhausen, who truly is the GOD of old-school special effects, along with Willis H O'Brien, of course. It's not the first movie with dinosaurs and cowboys, because The Beast of Hollow Mountain came about a decade before, which I also love. Unfortunately, this type of genre has an extremely small category of movies, it's basically extinct these days.

(8) Creature from the Black Lagoon (1954) ~ I'm sorry, but I can't help but love this Sci-Fi movie to bits and pieces. The creature's costume is more convincing than a lot of others that were made for movies in the fifties. The music score in this movie is so dramatic and cheesy, but I love it anyway. Avoid the two sequels, though...

(9) Godzilla 2000 (2000) ~ I had to fit in one 'zilla movie, and out of all of them, this one sticks out to me the most. The special effects are good, even if after fifty years it's always been a Japanese guy in a latex costume; but after seeing the lousy 1998 American version, I can tell that Godzilla will never be replaced by computer imagery, because I'm afraid you don't always need CGI to make a good movie...

(10) Häxan (1922) ~ This silent classic is sort of a documentary about witchcraft and superstition, featuring plenty of demons and other beasts and ghouls, including Satan himself. It is said to have been the inspiration for such films as The Exorcist and The Blair Witch Project (which is crap, but what the hey.)

*Whew* that was fun but tiring...

I tag: [info]karinablack, [info]pippin_cheerio, [info]crushedcereal, [info]amandasaitou, and [info]embyquinn if any of them can actually be bothered.  =)

Sadness... [Dec. 19th, 2006|04:41 pm]
[Mood | sad]
[Music |Within Temptation, "Gothic Christmas"]

R.I.P Joseph Barbera

You shall be exceptionally missed; by your family, your friends, and every single one of the vast number of fans all around the world. If there is a life that happens after death, then I guess that once again you shall be reunited with your longtime partner, William Hanna.

Your cartoons were a goldmine; every single one of them -- The Flinstones, Tom and Jerry, Scooby Doo, The Jetsons, Top Cat, Yogi Bear, why even old Snagglepuss and Huckleberry Hound -- were instant classics, and compared to a lot of the...how shall I put it?...crap cartoons we get these days, yours stick out like a sore thumb, and I'm sure they will be viewed by audiences for many more years to come.

LONG LIVE THE RETRO CARTOONS!

YaY LiveJourbal! [Dec. 10th, 2006|06:58 pm]
[Mood | accomplished]
[Music |Pink, "You and Your Hand"]

After recently joining LiveJourbal (yes, because such a place exists), I've decided that I want to become a contributor there to help those guys out, because you've gotta hand it to them--alot of effort was put into it, even if it is a parody site. When you contribute to the site, you get rewards, i.e. much more userpics, etc...

Seeing as it's fairly new, there are rarely any moodthemes, so I've decided that's what I'm going to help them with. I've already thought of an excellent idea for a moodtheme, called "Mogwais". As a solid Gremlins and Gremlins 2: The New Batch fan, I feel it as my duty to do something that I find interesting; and also something cute for the many squeeing fangirls to look at every time they update their Journal. So here's the template I'll be using for most of them, mainly just changing the facial expressions for each mood:

I'm planning to add animation to it later (blinking eyes, most likely) but that's it for now. I've been doing a bit of experimenting with the expressions, and I must say I've so far been very pleased. Looks like the plans are going forward!  =)

So what do you guys think?

.:ATTENTION:.

Have I got your attention yet? Good. Because I just want to bring to your acknowledgment a post I made about a week ago which apparently none of you guys took any notice of. I'm not complaining, nor do I plan to do this every time posts are missed, but this one makes an exception.

I put a lot of effort into them, so I would  really appreciate comments for that particular post. So please check out my colorized images once again, and thanks for doing so!  =)

Horseback Riding [Dec. 8th, 2006|08:40 pm]
[Mood | giggly]

A blonde decides to try horseback riding, even though has had no lessons or prior experience. She mounts the horse unassisted and it immediately springs into motion. It gallops along at a steady and rhythmic pace, but the blonde begins to slip from the saddle. In terror, she grabs for the horse's mane, but cannot seem to get a firm grip. She tries to throw her arms around the horse's neck, but she slides down the side of the horse anyway.

The horse gallops along, seemingly ignorant of its slipping rider. Finally, giving up her frail grip, the blonde attempts to leap away from the horse and throw herself to safety. Unfortunately, her foot becomes entangled in the stirrup, and she is now at the mercy of the horse's pounding hooves as her head is struck against the ground over and over.

As her head is battered against the ground, she is mere moments away from unconsciousness when to her great fortune Bobby, the Wal-Mart greeter, sees her and unplugs the horse.

Colorization! [Dec. 3rd, 2006|10:49 am]
[Mood | creative]

I discovered a nifty tool for colorizing old black and white photos whilst Googling for a tutorial of such. The program is called Recolored, but unfortunately it's only a 21-day trial. Turn back the date on your computer.

A software tool for colorizing black and white photos, replacing colors in color photos, and applying other effects to digital images.

Nine images behind the cut - now in full color! )

...So much easier than doing it layer by layer in Photoshop! I highly recommend you give it a go!

Allow me to state that all of these images have been colorized by me in Recolored--none of them were done by others, stolen, or anything of the sort. Damn, I hate people who take other's work without permission or credit. >=(

Take That are back with a vengeance! [Nov. 29th, 2006|08:03 pm]
[Mood | weird]
[Music |Take That, "Patience"]

Just have a little patience
Still hurting from a love I lost
I'm feeling your frustration
But any minute all the pain will stop

Just hold me close
Inside your arms tonight
Don't be too hard on my emotions

Cause I.........
Need time......
My heart is numb, has no feeling
So while I'm still healing
Just try........
And have a little patience

I really wanna start over again
I know you wanna be my salvation
The one that I can always depend

I'll try to be strong
Believe me I'm trying to move on
Its complicated but understand me

Cause I.........
Need time......
My heart is numb, has no feeling
So while I'm still healing
Just try........
And have a little patience

Cause the scars run so deep
It's been hard but I have to believe
Have a little patience
Have a little patience, woah

Cause I, I just need time
My heart is numb, has no feeling
So while I'm still healing

Just try and have a little patience

Have a little patience
My heart is numb, has no feeling
So while I'm still healing
Just try and have a little patience
